retinac'uli, pi. retinac'ula [L. a halter.] A frenum, or a retaining band or ligament, r. cap's ulae articula'ris coxae, one of several longitudinal folds of the cervical reflection of the capsular ligament of the hip-joint, r. cu'tis, (i) one of the folds of the skin about the joints; (2) one of the connective-ti ue bands attaching the subcutaneous ti ue to the corium. r. patell'se, one of several fibers of insertion of the vast us lateral is (r. patella laterale) or of the vast us naedialis (r. paielltz mediale) which run past the patella on either side to be inserted into the condyle of the tibia, r. ten'dinum, the annular ligament of the ankle or wrist.
