Heliograph

Instrument invented by Mance, consisting of a heliostat furnished with a small lever-key, by which the mirror can be deflected to the right or left through a small angle, so that corresponding flashes of light may be observed at a distant station and interpreted by the observer according to a prearranged code of signals.
