27, 1802: died at Utrecht, April, 1880. A Dutch physician and chemist, profe or of chemistry at Utrecht 1840-68: especially noted for his researches on protein. Mule sans Frein (mül son fran), La. [F., The Mule without a Bridle.'] A French romance which has by some been attributed to Payans Maizières, and by others to Chrestien de Troyes.
