pl. [From coleps (q. v.), and fem. pl. adj. suff. -ina.] Zool.: A family of Infusoria, established by Ehrenberg. It contains only the single genus Coleps (q. v.). Colepide would be more suggestive of a family. co-lěps, s. [Gr. kōlēps =the hollow or bend of the knee.] Zool.: A genus of Infusoria, the species of which feed voraciously on portions of the body of crushed entomostracans.
