Mountain

The Jacobins, or ultra-revolutionary party in the Convention during the French Revolution. Its leaders were Danton and Robes pierre. The Mountain came to an end with the fall of Robes pierre and his followers on the 9th Thermidor (July 28, 1794). It was so called because its members occupied the upper tiers of seats in the Convention.
