Harvey

Sir George, a Scotch painter; born near Stirling in February, 1806. In 1826, when the Royal Scottish Academy was instituted, he was elected an A ociate, though only in his 20th year; he became a full Academician in 1829, president in 1864, and was knighted in 1867. In his latter years Harvey devoted much time to landscape-painting. He died Jan. 22, 1876.
