WAR

In History, a war carried on in Germany between two alliances, headed respectively by Austria and Pru ia, from the year 1756 to 1763, when it was ended by the peace of Hubertsburg. It was signalized chiefly by the extraordinary campaigns of Frederick II., the Great King of Pru ia. His principal ally throughout the struggle was England; while he was, at one period, a ailed by the forces of Austria, France, the Empire, Sweden, and Ru ia. When the forces of the Pru ian sovereign had been almost annihilated hy this coalition, the death of the Ru ian empre , Elizabeth, caused the withdrawal of Ru ia from the alliance of his enemies, and thus brought about the termination of the war without material advantages gained l^ any party.
