ART OF ( Parfumerie , Fr.; Wohlriechende-kunst , Germ.); consists in the preparation of different products, such as fats or pommades, e ential oils, distilled spirits, pastes, pastilles, and e ences. Fats ought to be pounded in a marble mortar, without addition of water, till all the membranes be completely torn; then subjected to the heat of a water-bath in a proper ve el. The fat soon melts, and the albumen of the blood coagulating, carries with it all the foreign substances; the liquid matter should be skimmed, and pa ed through a canvas filter.
