Dalton, John

CALL, M.D., LL.D., an eminent American physiologist, born at Chelmsford, Ma ., 1825, graduated at Harvard College in 1814. In 1859 appeared his Treatise on Human Physiology, which ran through several editions. He wrote other physiological and anatomical works, and gained a wide reputation by his investigations in embryology and physiology. He became profe or of Physiology and Hygiene in the New York College of Physicians and Surgeons. Died Feb. 12, 1889. Da'ly, CHARLES PATRICK, LL.D., jurist, born in New York, Oct. 31, 1816; studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1839. He rose to the position of Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, New York city, in 1857; and since its foundation has been president of the American Geographical and Statistical Society.
