anticyclone

[Gr. ἀντί ( anti ) = marking opposition, and Eng. cyclone (q.v.).] A meteorological phenomenon consisting of a high barometric pre ure over a limited region -with the pre ure highest in the centre and having light winds with a rotatory outward flow.
