pl. Biol.: The name given to proce es in the larvae of some aquatic insects, projecting laterally from the somites, and containing trachose, which communicate with those which traverse the body. They are in no sense branch iæ, but simply take the place of stigmata. ( Huxley : Anat.Invert . Anim . , p. 252.) trā-che-o-çēle, subst. [Mod.
