Saw

[AS. saga, from L,. secare, to cut.] A thin steel blade with sharp teeth 011 its edge for cut¬ ting wood, etc. The chief kinds are the hand¬ saw, the cro -cutting saw, and the circular-saw, which is worked by machinery. The blades are of steel, the teeth being punched out by ma¬ chinery, then ground and set and cleaned by emery. The saiv-gin is the same as the cotton gin, used in clearing the cotton fibre of its seeds.
