Cuyaba

the capital of the Bragilian State of Matto Gro o, occupies pretty nearly the center of South America. It stands on the left bank of the Cuyaba river, 980 miles N. W. of Rio de Janeiro. Founded by gold-diggers in 1719, and wrecked by an earthquake in 1746, it is now a well-built place. Pop. 18,000, Cuyler, Theodore Ledyard, cler:; an and writer; born in Aurora, N. ©. jae 10, 1822, son of B. Ledgn and Louisa Frances (Morrell) uyler, graduated from Princeton in 1841, and from Princeton Theological me 1846; ordained to ministry in 71848. From 1860 to 1890 pastor of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Author of “ God’s Light on Rark Clouds,” “ Christianity in the Home,” etc.
