Capital of Ladakh, an Indian state in Kashmir, 11,500 ft. above the sea, inclosed by towered walls: 160 m. Leh. e. of Srinagar, it does a large transit trade between Thibet and Tartary, while shawl-wool from those countries finds its chief market here. Pop. ab. 4,000.
