[Eng. fisher, and man.] 1. One whose employment or occupation is to catch fish. 2. A boat or ve el employed in catching fish; a fishing-boat. The Fisherman : A title given to the Pope, from the fact that St. Peter, who is claimed as the first Bishop of Rome, was a fisherman.
