(nes'tor.) (Heroic Hist.) A Greek hero, son of Neleus and Chloris, reputed grandson of Neptune, and a king of Pylos and Me enia. He is said to have participate din the battle of the Lapithæ against the Centaurs, and in the Argonautic Expedition. He distinguished himself among the leaders at the siege of Troy by his commanding eloquence and wisdom, and is said to have ruled with conspicuous succe over three generations of men. [s. 638]
