ARTICULATA

A term applied by Cuvier to a primary division of the animal kingdom, characterised by an external skeleton in the form of a series of rings articulated together and surrounding the body; by an internal gangliated nervous system; the ganglinus being arranged symmetrically along the middle line of the^ body {see Homogangliata), and by having distinct respiratory organs.
