galeocerdo

[Gr. galeos = a shark, and kerdo a fox.] Palæont.: A genus of Sharks founded upon teeth obtained from the cretaceous rocks, and from the Eocene of the Isle of Sheppey. găl-ě-ō-dēş, s. [Gr. galē a weasel, and eidos = form, appearance.] Zool .: The typical genus of the family Galeodide (q. v.). Galeodes aranoides is found in the sandy deserts of the Eastern Hemisphere, and is said to annoy camels, and inflict an envenomed wound on man.
