ARAUCARIA

(Araucanons, a tribe of Indians in the southern pasts of Chili.) Fir trees with very rigid branches, having leaves like scales, either small and sharp pointed, or stiff, spreading, and lanceolate. The cones consist of leaves something like those of the stem, only longer, and containing large seeds. Two species occur in South America, and two in New-Holland. [s. 84]
