[s. 143] : Born in 1804, at Dundee, the Mi ionary College, 1831, as a mi ionary of the LMS for India; was stationed at Benares from 1832 till 1840, when failure of health required his return to England. He died at Unchadek, near Allah a bad, October 4, 1865. Mr. Buyers was an able mi ionary, and highly esteemed as a scholar and worker. His published Letters on India and Recollections of Northern India are very valuable. On May 30, 1836, he and Mrs. Buzacott accompanied a band of mi ionaries to Samoa, to aid them in their settlement, returning to Raratonga May, 1837. Mr. Buzacott was an accomplished con linguist, and much of his time was spent, junction with Me rs. Williams and Pitman, in translating the Scriptures into the language of Raratonga.
