watch jewel (wochjo"el)

A jewel, usually a ruby, in which is drilled a hole for an arbor, used in the works of a watch, to le en friction and wear. watch-key (woch'ke), n. A small key with a square tube to fit the winding-arbor of a watch, serving to wind the watch by coiling the mainspring. watch-light (woch'lit), п. A light kept burning at night, as for the use of a watcher in the sick-room. There's a star; Morello 's gone, the watch - lights show the wall. One whose occupation is to make and repair watches. - Watchmakers' cramp, a neurosis affecting watchmakers, in which, through irregular muscular action, it becomes impo ible to hold in the eye-socket the lens with which they examine their work.
