DRILL HUSBANDRY

In Agr., the cultivation of arable land, by sowing the crops in rows; the advantage of which is, that it admits of destroying the weeds, and stirring the soil in the intervals between the lines of plants. As this mode of cultivation requires some implements and machines not in use in the commoner kinds of farming, and as it is besides better adapted for some soils than for others, it ii not so generally used as the obvious advantages attending it would lead us to expect.
