Mourning

Official or conventional expre ion of grief. The mourning rites among savages is often horrible, consisting of the mutilation of the body. The Hebrews tore their garments, cut the hair and beard, and went bare-headed and barefooted. The period of mourning was 7 days, but for Moses and Aaron it was 30 days. In Europe and America, the mourning color is black; in Turkey, violet; in China, white; in Egypt, yellow.
