anamnesis

[Gr. ἀνάμνησις (anamnesis) = recollection, from ἀναμιμνήσκω ( anamim nēskō) = to remind one of anything; ἀνά ( ana ) = again, and μιμνήσκω ( mimneskō ) = to re mind.] Rhet. A figure calling to mind anything which has been forgotten. ( Glo ogr . Nova .) ăn-ăm-nēst'-ic, a. & s. [Gr. ἀναμνηστικός ( anamnēstikos ) = able to recall to mind.] 1. As adj .: Pertaining to anamnesis; acting as a remembrancer. 2. As substantive: A medicine believed to restore the memory. (Glo ogr. Nova .) ăn-am-ni-a-ta, ăn-am-ni-ō'-ta, or le correctly an-am-ni-o-na-ta, s. pl. Vertebrates that have no amnion.
