Made of sand and hydraulic cement, and po e ing the property of setting and hardening under water. Two or three parts of sand to one of cement are usually employed. The compre ive strength ranges from 700 to 2,000 lbs. per sq. in. when one year old, but this is lowered with a higher proportion of sand. The tensile strength is ab. one-third the compre ive.
