Cul-de-sac

(kul' -de-sak'). A cavity of the body closed at one end. Douglas's C, a pouch between the anterior wall of the rectum and the posterior wall of the uterus, formed by the reflection of the peritoneum. It is called, also, the recto-uterine or retro-uterine cul-de-sac.
