(ves'tre.) [Fr. vestiaire, from L. vestiarium, a wardrobe.] (Eccl.) A place adjoining the church where the vestments of the minister are kept; also where the parishioners formerly a embled for the discharge of parochial busine ; whence such a meeting is called a vestry. [s. 936]
