(Yunanca köken — orijinale bakınız.) The collective appellation of the sons of the seven Greek princes who conducted the first war against Thebes without succe . The war subsequently undertaken by the Epigoni to avenge the defeat of their forefathers is celebrated in history. Their capture of Thebes forms the theme of Wilkie's epic poem, the Epigoniad, which was published about the middle of the last century, and procured for its author great reputation. [s. 424]
