African : language of the Nile regions. The people are cannibals with saw teeth, reputed to have a deformity of the os coccygis . They are commonly called Nyanya. The language has affinities to Tasmanian and to some words of Austral asia. There is a vocabulary and a grammar by Dr. S. Schweinfurth, Berlin, 1873; and some words in Pet he rick’s “Egypt, the Soudan, .,” 1861. This language is of very ancient type.     H. C.   Sandwich Is. , see Kanaka .
