Cyanosis

(-nõ'sis.) [Gr. kyanosis, from kya nos, blue.] (Med.) A name characteristically applied to the lividity of complexion, with fulne of the capillaries and minute veins, especially of the face and lips, which occurs in certain cases of congenital disease or malformation of the heart. It is commonly called the Blue Disease; and, though producing general weakne , it does not nece arily destroy life. [s. 256]
