Reiss (rīs), Wilhelm

Born at Mannheim, 1838. A German scientist and traveler. From 1868 to 1876 he traveled in South America, generally in company with A. Stübel. They made their headquarters at Quito for four years; explored the Ecuador i an mountains; made an - extended examination of the ancient necropolis of Ancon, the visited Brazilian as descended Amazon and the coast cities.
