Quarter-sights

In gunnery, divisions marked on the upper quarters of the base-ring, commencing where it would be intersected by a plane parallel to the axis of the piece, and tangent to the upper surface of the trunnions. These sights are used for giving elevations up to 3°. Quarters of Refreshment. — The place where the troops that have been much hara ed are put to recover themselves during some part of the campaign.
