In Heraldry, one of the furs employed in blazonry.Itis supposed to represent the skin of a small squirrel. It is always white and blue, unle otherwise specified in the blazon; as vair of or and azure, vair of ermine and gules, . Vair appears to be derived from varius. Vairy is the pattern of vair with more than two colours. [s. 1304]
