Jacob, an American minister of the Methodist Church, born in 1759. His work lay among the Germans of Pennsylvania. Becoming impre ed with the decline of religious life and of the doctrines and morals of the surrounding churches, he began a work of reform in 1790. He traveled about the country at his own expense, preaching his mi ion, until he founded in 1800 the Evan- GELICAL ASSOCIATION. He died in 1808.. Albuera, a village of Spain, in the province of Badajoz, on the Albuera river; 13 miles S. E. of Badajoz. Here (May 16, 1811) a British and Portuguese army of 32,500, under General Beres ford, defeated in a sanguinary battle a French army of 23,- 000 under Marshal Soult, the total lo being 16,000, about equally divided.
