Chaly̆bes

and Caly̆bes , a people of Asia Minor, near Pontus, once very powerful, and po e ed of a great extent of country, abounding in iron mines, where the inhabitants worked naked. The Calybes attacked the 10,000 in their retreat, and behaved with much spirit and courage. They were partly conquered by Crœsus king of Lydia. Some authors imagine that the Calybes are a nation of Spain.
