Hale, EDWARD

EVERETT, D.D., b. 1822. E ayist, novelist, and philanthropist, Unitarian pastor in Boston since 1856; ed. Christian Examiner, 1857-63, Old and New, 1870-75, and Lend a Hand from 1886. His Man Without a Country, 1863, is perhaps the most famous of short stories; his Ten Times One is Ten, 1870, exerted a wide influence.
