War Department

That department of the government which takes charge of all matters relating to war. It is presided over by the Secretary of War, who is a member of the President's official Cabinet, and for administrative purposes. the following divisions are made:— General Staff, Adjutant General's Department, Inspector General's Department, Judge Advocate's Department (Provost Ordnance Department, Quartermaster Corps, Corps Marshal), of Engineers, Coast Artillery Corps, Signal Corps, Medical Department, Bureau of Insular Affairs and Bureau of Militia Affairs.
