LLOYD, 1804-1879. American reformer; founder of The Liberator 1831, and its editor till 1865; imprisoned in Baltimore 1830, mobbed in Boston 1835; Pres. American Anti-Slavery Society 1843-65. Through danger, narrowne , constant and violent opposition, he was faithful to the cause he had chosen, and he saw it triumph.
