River of Central Africa. It rises in Lake Bangweolo and under the name of Lualaba flows n. acro the equator. Bearing around to the w. and then s.w., it recro es the equator and flows into the Atlantic. Its length is estimated at 2,900 m., its drainage area at 860,000 sq. m., its average volume at 1,800,000 cubic ft. per second, and the entire navigable parts of the river and its branches at 3,000 m.
