tachydrite

(Pref.tach; Gr.hydōr=water, and suff.- ite.] Mineral.: A deliquescent mineral, occurring in rounded ma es, having two cleavages, in the salt mines of Sta furth, Pru ia. Color, yellowish; transparent. Composition: Chlorine, 41'17; calcium, 7.76; i magnesium, 930; water, 41:77=100, which corresponds with the formula (CaCl+2MgCl)+12H2O. tăch-ý-drō-mi-a, s. [TACHYDROMUS.] Entom.: A genus of Empide (q. v.), akin to Ocydromia (q. v.).
