[Eng. scorify; -er.] A aying : A saucer of refractory clay for containing a charge of lead and the metal to be a ayed. It is placed in the muffle of an a ay-furnace. Also used in burning off inflammable matters from the sweepings of jewelers' shops, or to obtain the metallic portions from gold-lace, . scör-i-form, adj. [English scori ( a ), and form. ] Resembling scoria; in the form of scoria. scör-i-fy, v. t. [Eng. scori(a); suffix -fy.] To reduce to scoria or dro y matter.
