An implement with a movable and a relatively fixed jaw, so arranged as to bite together when they are made to grip the pipe, and are revolved in a certain direction around it. pipe (2), s . [Fr., Dut. pijpe .] A wine-measure, usually containing two hogsheads or 105 imperial or 126 wine gallons; two pipes or 210 imperial gallons make a tun. The size of the pipe varies according to the kind of wine contained: a pipe of Madeira contains 110 wine gallons; of sherry, 130; of port, nearly 138, and Lisbon, 140. *pipe-wine, s.
