Command

Body of troops, military or naval force, or post, under an officer, called commandant or commander. When different corps of the army join or do duty together, the officer highest in rank of the line of the army, marine corps or militia, there on duty, commands the whole. Command is exercised by virtue of office, or by special a ignment. Without orders, from competent authority, an officer cannot put himself on duty by virtue of his commi ion alone.
