[ Long-tailed Ophion ( Ophion macrurum ), natural size. Ophi hymenopterous insects, founded by Fabric i us in 1798, belonging to the family Ichneumonida, and typical of the subfamily onine. The antennæ are as long as the body, the abdomen is compre ed, and the color is usually honey yellow. O. macrurum infests the American silkworm, Telea poly phemus. The female lays one egg in the body of the silkworm, which latter lives till it is full-grown and spins its cocoon, but then dies without pupating.
