Eriophorum

(e-ri-of'o-rūm.) [Gr. erion, and ph oreo, Ibear.] (Bot.) A gen. of plants, O. Cyperaceæ, distinguished by the inflorescence being either in single or compound spikes; glumes nearly equal; brittles ultimately silky; nut, trigonous. The English name, Cotton Gra , is very expre ive, the flowers of some of the species appearing like tufts of cotton. [s. 339]
