[Pref. trach ( eo )-, and Gr. engchyma infusion.] Bot .: Vascular ti ue consisting of simple membranous, unbranched tubes, tapering to each end, but often ending abruptly, either having a fiber generated spirally in the inside, or having their walls marked by transverse bars arranged more or le spirally. It is divided into three kinds: Spiral, annular, and reticulated. trā-chě-ō-, pref. [TRACHEA.] Of or pertaining to the trachea or tracheæ.
