[ Generally, the development of the pro to somites , as these segments might be called, does not occur [in annelids] until some time after the embryo has been hatched. Huxley, Anat. Invert., p. 243. pro to somitic (proto-so-mit'ik), a. [ mite + -ic.] Primitively segmented; of or per taining to a pro to somite.
