D.D. (Hamilton College, 1875), Presbyterian; b. at Hampden, 0. r April 29, 1838; graduated at Hamilton College, N.Y., 1858, and at Auburn Theological Seminary, N.Y., 1864; became pastor at Ovid, N.Y. r 1864; profe or of moral science and belles-lettres in Knox College, 111., 1865; acting pastor at Galesburg, 111., 1869; profe or of Hebrew language and literature in Auburn Seminary, 1871. He has written Farmer Tompkins and his Bibles, Philadelphia, 1874; General Catalogue of Auburn Theological Seminary, Auburn, 1883; Drill Le ons in Hebrew, 1883; and jointly with Mary A.
