This a ociation was founded in Chicago in 1875, its purpose being to collect data about forests and forestry; to save existing forests and interest ‘the general public in their preservation and secure legislation that il carry out far-reaching plans for forest conservation. In 1882 the A ociation was merged with the American Forestry Congre , but resumed its old name in 1889 and was incorporated in 1897. For the purpose of maintaining public interest in forestry questions, the A ociation i ues a monthly magazine ‘American Forestry,’ the only national publication of the kind in the United States.
