[Lat. glaur; Gr. glaux =(1) the owl, from its glaring eyes; (2) a plant, the Milk vetch ( Astragalus glaux of Linnæus); glax =the plant only, from glaukos.] [GLAUCOUS.] Bot .: Sea-milkwort, a genus of Primulaceæ , family Primulide. Flowers small, axillary se ile, white, or pink; calyx five-parted, colored; corolla wanting; stamens five, hypogynous, alternate with the lobes of the calyx; ovary subglobose; style filiform; stigma obtuse; capsule five-valved, few-seeded.
